Short Stay Apartment Building in Piraeus
This project concerns the reuse of a multi-storey office building into short-stay apartments near the heart of the port of Piraeus. The renovation followed the axis of the minimum possible interventions to serve the new use of the building. The building’s façade was designed by a fellow architecture studio.

The architectural study mainly focused on the design of the entrance and the interiors of the building, highlighting its materiality such as the marble tiles on the façade on the entrance and the floor. On the rooftop, a welcoming outdoor living area was placed with a view of the port of Piraeus.
Particular emphasis was placed on the design of the entrance reception of the building, by creating a rectangular metal structure in bright red colour with thin strings as a support system, serving both as a mailbox for correspondence and a reception desk.
As for the division of apartments on each floor with new partitions, two types of fully equipped rooms were designed except the standard rooms. The differences in the room typologies depend on their size.
In the larger rooms, it was chosen to raise the beds in a special construction with storage cabins below, making full use of the space.
In contrast, in the smaller rooms, it was considered appropriate to install a specially designed folding bed to maximize the space and turn it into a living room when folded.
